Information for Staff & Administrators

New Academic Programs

The Office of International Services is required to report via SEVIS on any additions or changes to Saint Louis University's curriculum or programs. Please keep our office informed of any new majors created, new programs added or programs deleted.

Employment of International Students

International students will still be permitted to work on campus, up to 20 hours per week when school is in session. SEVIS does not change that permission. However, changes related to SEVIS require us to have a letter of employment from your academic department before we can authorize the student to obtain a Social Security number.

Employment of International Scholars and Researchers

Please contact the Office of International Services for information regarding inviting international scholars and researchers to Saint Louis University. Due to the new SEVIS requirements, the Office of International Services is required to maintain information on all J-1 scholars. Upon arrival to the university, the new scholars are required to report to the Office of International Services, DuBourg Hall 150. The Office of International Services must verify whether or not an Exchange Visitor has begun his or her program participation by entering such an action into SEVIS no later than 30 days following the program start date on the Exchange Visitor's visa document. The Office of International Services is also required to report the Exchange Visitor's departure from Saint Louis University or termination of his/her J-1 program from SLU. Saint Louis University's J-1 visa program can be revoked by the Department of State if the Office of International Services does not provide the information required by SEVIS.
